All photographs of “Nuit Blanche“ are night-shots. However, complete darkness is very rare, especially in and around cities. Due to our cultural conditioning, we always tend to associate the phenomenom of night with complete darkness and dark shadows…But in fact the night generates very often of an unseen brightness, due to a permanent haze of indirect light illuminating the whole landscape around cities. This phenomenom is called „ light-pollution“ and is the result of indirect light coming from artificial light sources of a city that are being reflected by clouds. Thus, even at night the sky is washed out by light.
